Smothered Hamburger Steak

* Ingredients :

°1 pound lean ground beef
°1 lb Jimmy Dean's Original Best Ground Sausage
°1 teaspoon seasoned salt I'm using Season-All
°1 medium onion, peeled and finely chopped
°8 ounces fresh mushrooms, washed and sliced
°1/4 to 1/2 cup flour
°1 liter homemade, commercial or watery beef broth
°1/2 to 1 teaspoon seasoned salt

* Instructions:

Step 1: Mix all ingredients well and form 8 small equal size pieces.
Step 2 Heat  frying pan. Put the pancakes in the skillet. Don't get crowded. Some will shrink. If the pancakes do not sizzle when placed in the pan, the pan is not hot enough. Well built on both sides. Remove from fire and set aside.
Step 3 Add onions and mushrooms to a hot skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until vegetables are reduced in size by half. Add more cooking oil if needed.
Step 4 Adding enough flour to pan to absorbe all the fat. Keep stirring until the fat and flour are well combined and the whites disappear.
Step 5 Slowly add the liquid, stirring or whisking constantly, until all the liquid is added. Keep stirring or whisking until the broth begins to thicken.
Step 6 Add the pancakes back to the pan. Spoon the broth over the pancakes. Cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.
Step 7 Taste the broth for seasoning and adjust as needed.
Step 8: When you're done, remove the pancakes into a bowl and pour the meat broth over them. Grandma served them in a bowl very similar to the one I have.
Step 9: Southern-style hamburger steaks with onion and mushroom broth. 3 ingredients of hamburger slices cooked in a delicious onion and mushroom broth.

Enjoy !
